After the "S3" floorstanding speakers from Magico were updated to a new version recently, the same now happens with the subwoofer of the S series from the U.S. manufacturer: inspired in part by the even more exclusive subwoofer "Titan-15", the new version of the S-Sub is supposed to be improved all around. For personalization and customization, the subwoofer comes with a DSP software in which many settings are stated to be availyble.
The subwoofer uses two front-firing 13-inch drivers with stiff aluminum cones that, along with optimizations in the drive, are said to offer high volume with minimal distortion; Magico claims a maximum sound pressure of 120 dB. The drivers are driven by a Class-D power amplifier that is said to deliver up to 3200W of power.
The S-Sub's cabinet has been extensively simulated and tested, making it very stable and rigid, according to Magico. It is made of thick aluminum and carries various internal stiffeners as well as damping, and thus is claimed to not generate any noise.
According to Magico, the new version of the S-Sub should be available in the fourth quarter of 2023. The prices announced so far (MSRP) are $18,650 for the "softouch" version and $22,000 for the high-gloss variant.
