The Sony subsidiary Sony Interactive Entertainment is set to become the new owner of California-based headphone manufacturer Audeze. Sony Interactive Entertainment is responsible for the PlayStation gaming console, among other things – Audeze is stated to benefit from becoming part of the PlayStation ecosystem, and Sony aims to improve the audio experience in PlayStation games. However, Sony says Audeze will continue to work independently as well as develop products for various platforms.
Audeze has been building "gaming" headphones for some time, always with magnetostatic drivers and sometimes combined with wireless options for use as headsets. The magnetostatic headphone specialist also offers models aimed at studio and hi-fi use, and intends to continue doing so, according to the press release.
