The power supply is a very important part of the audio path and contributes significantly to the sound quality. Both a Pro-Ject turntable and a phono preamplifier from the Austrian analog specialist can be connected to the new Power Box RS2 Phono at the same time. They are thus said to benefit both from the high-quality supply. The new Power Box is compatible with all Pro-Ject "Phono Boxes" and any 15V DC turntable from the manufacturer.
The so-called linear power supply consists of a big toroidal transformer, which is intended to prevent the transmission of interference from the mains into the audio equipment. This transformer offers much more power reserves than the standard power supplies. The very low output impedance in combination with the high capacity is supposed to reliably avoid limitations in power delivery. As a result, the manufacturer promises improvements in terms of soundstage imaging, a "blacker", quieter background, as well as increased fine resolution of smallest sound details, leading to a significant overall increase in playback quality.
On its rear side, the Power Box RS2 Phono – manufactured in Europe, weighing around three kilograms and available in a black or silver aluminum housing – offers two outputs from which a stable 15 volts (turntable) and 18 volts (phono preamp), respectively, are given out.
The Power Box external PSU is available immediately for around €900 in Germany.
